Deadline: Monday, February 12, 2018, midnight EST

The Urban Geography Specialty Group will award one Master’s fellowship (approximately $300) and one doctoral fellowship (approximately $500), to support urban-oriented, graduate-level research. Fellowships are intended to provide targeted support for original Master’s research and for early-stage doctoral dissertation research – while also ensuring that award recipients have well-developed research proposals that have a high likelihood of completion. Fellowship support may be used for any reasonable expenses associated with the research. Eligibility is limited to current student members of the Urban Geography Specialty Group who will have completed all Master’s or Ph.D. requirements except the thesis or dissertation by the end of the term in which the award is approved.

Applicants should complete the downloadable form. Completed forms should be emailed to Caroline Nagel (cnagel@mailbox.sc.edu) and Jennifer Kitson (kitson@rowan.edu) by the February 12, 2018 deadline. Decisions will be announced to the winners by Monday, March 12, 2018.

**Please note that the UGSG Board reserves the right not to make an award or to increase the number of awards in any award category. All awards are given in the form of a check in US dollars. Non-US awardees are generally able to deposit dollar-denominated checks into their non-US bank accounts, but it is the responsibility of recipients to confirm whether they can do so. Award recipients who require a form of payment other than a US-issued check should contact the UGSG Chair (Caroline Nagel) and Treasurer (Joseph Danko). Travel award checks will be distributed at the UGSG business meeting, which is held during the AAG annual meeting. Other award checks will either be sent directly to recipients or will be available at the UGSG business meeting, depending on the recipient’s preference.**
